Each year, the team at Go Laadli creates a campaign designed to energize girls in India to learn and get involved in an important social issue. This year (2024) was centered around media literacy, helping to teach about digital defense, misinformation, and AI fairness and bias issues. Having worked a lot with Go Laadli in the past, I was asked to help create the icons that would represent each campaign path the girls could choose. We went through different iterations, beginning with a superhero-esque design, eventually landing on a design that felt familiar to average girls.

In an attempt to learn digital illustration, I began watching online tutorials to understand how to use programs like Adobe Fresco and Procreate. Below are my initial submissions to the Peachtober 2021 challenge.

Digital Illustration (& Infographic Design) | Step-By-Step Guide
Alongside a series of social media images created to encourage adoption of their resident rescues, AMA Animal Rescue asked if I could also help design an infographic that would teach people how to help neonatal kittens! I happily took on the request, starting with an illustration of kittens. I used this to help offset the large amounts of text included in the graphic. Overall, I think it helped add a level of interest to what is essential information.
Digital Illustration | Proposal - Book Cover Illustration
In recent months, I have worked with a small publishing company, Strange, Inc., helping to work on cover designs and book formatting. Through that connection, I was also asked about creating an illustration for another book (to be self-published by the author). Though I did not end up creating the final illustration for that project, I wanted to showcase the illustrations I submitted as part of my pitch. The project was a line-art illustration, and these were my first rounds of sketches.

After a profound personal loss, I find myself seeking out ways to express this creatively around the anniversary. This past year, I found that comfort in hand-lettering a quote from “Wanda Vision”. I think it’s a beautiful sentiment, and one I found meaningful to illustrate.
